Welcome to Eden Gate Newport
Inviting people in, helping people out
Inviting people in, helping people out
Working closely with partner agencies and local churches, our mission is to support the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people in Newport who find themselves homeless or at risk of homelessness, as well as those affected by substance or alcohol dependency.
Founded in 2013, Eden Gate exists to serve some of the most marginalised people in our city; those who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless or living in temporary accommodation. The many challenges they face can include poor mental health, difficulties with physical health and drug or alcohol dependency.
While we recognise the importance of providing immediate humanitarian aid, our mission goes further. We want every guest to know that although they may be homeless, they are not helpless. Our award-winning programme includes a daily drop-in service and a range of activities delivered through our Shoulder2Shoulder (S2S) initiative. S2S is designed to help guests develop essential life skills and engage in meaningful activities that support long-term change.
We work in close partnership with professional agencies, businesses, churches, and passionate individuals to deliver life-changing services and our desire is to be a centre of excellence in all that we do.
Eden Gate is a Christian charity; whilst our work is motivated by our faith in God, our doors are open to all adults, regardless of religion, race, or gender.
Our small team of paid staff are assisted by a dedicated team of volunteers. Although many of our volunteers are Christian we welcome applications from those who do not profess any faith as well as those who do.
