With a passion to help others, and a heart to serve, I began volunteering for Newport Night Shelter in November 2012. Not knowing what to expect, I stepped out of my comfort zone with the naïve thought that I would simply serve a cup of tea and a hot meal for one evening a week during the winter. Little did I know that God had other plans! I have since helped to co-ordinate Night Shelter and assist the drop-in sessions at Eden Gate; during which time I have had the privilege of extending a helping hand to many vulnerable, hurting individuals. The experience has shown me the power and reality of poverty and addiction, especially throughout Newport, and allowed me to stay humble in my approach.
